Grace Crawford is East of Scotland Girls' Champion

Grace Crawford, Gullane, beat Carys Irvine, Craigielaw, by 5 & 4 in today's final of the East of Scotland Girls' Championship held at Royal Musselburgh. Congratulations to Grace on becoming this this year's Champion. Well done to both girls who played great golf over the two days and contested the final in the best of spirits.

Report of final:
This year's final was contested by Grace Crawford, Gullane and Carys Irvine, Craigielaw. Grace took an early lead when she won the second and then the third to go 2 up. Carys fought back by winning the fifth and sixth to square the match.  Grace won the 8th after Carys was in a greenside bunker. Carys also lost the 9th when her ball found the trees and she had a penalty shot. Grace was 2 up. The 10th hole was halved. Grace then birdied holes 11, 12 and 13 to extend her lead to 5 up. Both girls had lovely tee shots at the Par 3 14th, the hole was halved in 3 and Grace became the champion for 2018. Congratulations girls on a well-fought match with lots of impressive golf shots!

Thank you to Janette Buchanan, President of East Lothian County Ladies, for her support over the two days and for starting the girls off the first tee. Thanks also to Jenni Ray, Vice Captain of East Lothian, for refereeing the final and for helping with the scores on Monday. we appreciate the support from the County.

It was a most enjoyable two days, many thanks to all the girls who played and to the parents, relatives and friends who support our events.
