Evanna Hynd is East of Scotland Girls' Champion

The final of this year's East of Scotland Girls' Championship, which was postponed last Tuesday due to heavy rain, was played today at Dunnikier Park Golf Club. Congratulations to Evanna Hynd, Lundin Golf Club, who beat Eilidh Henderson, Loretto School, by 4 & 3 and became this year's East of Scotland's Girls' Champion. Well done to both girls who played great golf over the three days and contested the final in the best of spirits.

Evanna Hynd, East of Scotland Champion

Runner up, Eilidh Henderson and Champion Evanna Hynd
Report of final:

Fife County Members, Evanna Hynd, Lundin G C and Eilidh Henderson, Loretto School contested this year’s final. The first nine holes were very closely contested. Evanna took an early lead when she won the second.  The next three holes were halved, the 5th in birdies, then Eilidh squared the match at the 6th. Evanna went 1 up with a birdie at the 7th and then extended her lead to 2up. Eildh won the 9th to be only 1 down.
Evanna started the second half strongly with a birdie and also won the 11th to go 3 up. The next three holes were all halved in par.  At the fifteenth Eilidh’s drive found a bunker and although she recovered well and had the chance to keep the game going she missed the final putt.  Evanna was our new Champion. Congratulations to both girls on their high standard of golf in a well fought match.

Thank you to Dunnikier Park Golf Club for courtesy of the course for our Summer Meeting and Championship. The girls all enjoyed the course and we all appreciated the catering and warm welcome in the Clubhouse.

Many thanks to Susan Jackson, Junior Secretary FCLGA, for arranging the venue for this year's competition and for her help throughout the three days at Dunnikier Park. It was much appreciated. Thank you to Emma Wilson for refereeing today’s final and for her support to the East of Scotland Girls over the years. Many thanks also to Fife President, Lorna McKinlay, and Fife Vice Captain, Elsie Hutcheon for coming to watch today.  We appreciate the interest and support from the County.

We had a most enjoyable time at Dunnikier Park. Many thanks to all the girls who played and to the parents, relatives and friends who support the girls and our events.
