Report of Final:

The first two holes were exchanged with Eilidh winning the 1st and Carys the 2nd. Carys had birdies at the 4th and 6th to go 2 up. Eilidh won the 7th with a par so Carys was 1 up. Another birdie at the 8th and Carys was again 2 up. At the tricky 9th, Eilidh secured her par 3 to win the hole and then won the 10th to square the match. Eilidh conceded the 11th so Carys was 1 up. However Eilidh responded with a birdie at the 12th to square the match again. The 13th, 14th and 15th were all halved. Eilidh won the 16th, which was playing long into the wind, with a par 3 and was 1 up. She then won the 17th to win the match and become East of Scotland Girls’ Champion for 2016.

Congratulations to both girls on their excellent golf and for giving us such an exciting final to watch. Thank you to Lothians’ referee, Sheila Stuart, for refereeing this year's final.

Thank you to Midlothian County, for arranging this year's venue at Prestonfield. Our thanks also go to Sharon Macpherson, Midlothian junior secretary, for her support before and during the two days of the competition.
