Results from East of Scotland Girls' Championship

Catherine Goodwin had a 3 & 2 win over leading qualifier, Shannen McGuire, while Lauren Whyte and Fiona Liddell also won through to the semi-finals. The last match of the morning was closely contested. Hannah Scott was 4 up with 5 holes to play however Clara fought back and squared the match at the 18th with a birdie 4. Four holes were halved in par before Hannah won at the 5th extra hole.


In the semi finals, Lauren played steady golf with Catherine keeping in touch until Lauren gradually edged ahead, winning at the 15th. The match between Hannah and Fiona was close, Fiona won the 15th and 16th to square the match. The 17th was halved and at the 18th, Hannah holed a good birdie putt to win the match.


The final between Lauren and Hannah will be played at a later date, which has to be confirmed.

Shannen McGuire is leading qualifier in East Girls' Championship

Shannen McGuire, Canmore, was leading qualifier in this year's East of Scotland Championship which began today at Murrayfield Golf Club. Shannen won the new Trophy which was presented by the Stephen Gallacher Foundation, beating Clara Young (North Berwick) on the better inward half.

Jennifer Allan wins Summer Meeting

Jennifer Allan (Glenbervie) won the East of Scotland Girls' Summer Meeting today at Murrayfield Golf Club with an excellent score of 86 less a handicap 14 for a net 72. The competition was played in very difficult conditions with heavy rain throughout the morning. Our thanks to the Green Staff who worked extremely hard to keep the greens free from water.
Shannen McGuire (Canmore) took the Scratch Prize with a 79, winning on the better half from Clara Young (North Berwick). Well done to the girls who all completed their round on such an awful day.

East Girls' Summer Meeting and Championship

The Stephen Gallacher Foundation has sponsored this year's competition and has presented a Trophy for the leading qualifier in the East of Scotland Girls' Championship.

The Stephen Gallacher Foundation will be running an Order of Merit for under 18 girls and further details of events will be available at the competition tomorrow. Full details are also on the Foundation website www.sgfoundation.co.uk

The East of Scotland Girls' Summer Meeting is the first event in the series and there will be points for both Scratch and Handicap scores for the Stephen Gallacher Order of Merit.
